Foreword#
Hello! This is my documentation following the 2024-2025 class “How to make (almost) anything using Digital Fabrication.”
About me#
My background#
My name is Lucia Babic Bermúdez and I am 20 years old. I am in the 3rd year of a Physics Bachelor’s at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and I am currently on exchange at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. I grew up in Venezuela, then moved to The Netherlands when I was young. So, I speak Spanish, English, and French fluently.
My academic experience#
During the first two years of my Bachelor’s, I developed skills in Python and C++ programming languages, as well basic knowledge of CLI commands. I have a lot of experience using text editors such as Markdown and LaTeX. I have some experience with Electronics and Arduinos.
Why am I taking this class?#
My choice to take this course was motivated by my passion for creation. I am a maker at heart, having been knitting, crocheting, and building legos and models for as long as I can remember. I grew up watching YouTubers such as Simone Giertz and Adam Savage. Moreover, from a young age, creativity was at the center of my extra-curricular education. For example, I have learnt how to play many musical instruments such as piano, drums, and guitar.
Coming from a Physics background, my tertiary education has been very theoretical and autonomomous. While the skills I developed during those years have been very important and useful, I was still very grateful for the opportunity to take a project based course, during which I can work with others. I chose this class as a welcome change.
My goals for this class#
- Learn how to make fast prototypes.
- Improve my project management skills.
- Have fun.
